David Hockney’s Collage
Posted April 28, 2011
on:In this collage I utilized the composition strategy of rule of thirds because my main focus is towards the right and not directly in the middle. My collage also utilizes the strategy of perception because as your eye goes from left to right the picture appears larger. Leading lines can also been seen by the necks of the guitars.
Photo Strip Story

on:My photo strip shows a story of a person writing the sentence, “the end” on a piece of paper. The first picture demonstrates the technique of rule of thirds because the paper is positioned in the top right corner. The second picture shows leading lines by the red paper line and also the pencil. This picture also has perspective. The third picture unitizes leading lines and once again perspective. Finally, the last picture demonstrates the rule of thirds technique and leading lines with the pencil that is leading to the focus of the picture: “the end.”
Photo Elements and Strategies

on:This photo utilizes the element of leading lines and also perspective. The strings of the net form lines that go very far out. This is known as leading lines because they lead your eye. The lines also make the net look never-ending therefor creating perspective.
This picture utilizes all three design elements/strategies: rule of thirds, leading lines, and perspective. The strategy, rule of thirds is used because the focus of the picture is towards the bottom right. The leading lines are the guitar strings and perspective is used because this is not the normal way you would look at someone playing a guitar.
The rule of thirds strategy is shown in this picture because the focus is directed towards the top right. The bark also displays a few leading lines.
This photo displays leading lines because the stems and leafs are leading to the focus of the picture, the flower. The focus also follows the rule of thirds because the flower is placed in the top right, not the center.
This picture displays perspective because the angle is not a typical angle. The railing could also be considered a leading line.
